Heirloom tomato burrata salad
Viola
This tomato burrata salad is easy and quick to put together and tastes incredible with my lemon garlic dressing. This salad looks & tastes spectacular and always makes a statement.
I like using a mix of large and cherry heirloom tomatoes for a wonderful presentation. To add visual interest, slice the tomatoes into varying shapes/thickness. Layer them on a serving platter.
Evenly arrange the fresh basil leaves on the top.
Nestle the burrata cheese(s) onto the platter and tear it open with a knife to expose the beautiful cheese curds inside.
Sprinkle kosher salt, freshly cracked black pepper and thai chilli flakes evenly all over the top.
Grate the lemon zest directly on top of the salad for some delicious freshness.
Mix together the home made garlic oil and fresh lemon juice and drizzle it all over the salad right before serving.
Optionally, serve this salad with some crusty bread to mop up all that delicious dressing that gets mixed with the tomato juices and pools on the bottom of the platter. Yum!
Notes
I used homegrown tomatoes for this recipe but you can definitely use whichever variety of tomatoes are in season for the sweetest juiciest salad.
I am a huge cheese lover and can easily eat an entire ball of burrata cheese myself. If you are a cheese lover too or are making it for company that loves cheese, use 8oz burrata cheese for a salad of this size.
I sometimes like adding a few thin shavings of red onions to this salad. If you like raw onions, then you might want to try this salad with the onions.
